Purpose The American Theological University exits to serve the Assembly of Christianity Reformed Church by training its leaders, with a priority on pastors and including missionaries, educators, counselors, and others, through a program of theological education based upon the authority of the infallible Word of God, the sixty six books of the Bible.
As the theological school of the Assembly of Christianity Reformed Church, my university has as its primary purpose the preparation of ordained ministers of the Word for that church.
Mission Under the lordship of Jesus Christ, our specific mission is to provide the theological foundations and personal spiritual formation needed to equip the students for biblically faithful and contextually effective ministry of the Word.
Goals
and
Objectives
The American Theological University goals and objectives include the following:
We train our students to demonstrate good scholarship in the fields of biblical, historical, theological, and church and ministry studies, as measured by objective testing.
We expect our students are developed into godly servants of the Lord with a thorough knowledge of the Word of God and uncompromising living for Christ and good Christian citizenship, as measured by adherence to Christian codes of good conduct.
We guide students in the development of interpersonal relationships and hone the necessary skills for effective ministry.
We provide leadership in formulating theological and ecclesiastical strategies for the church, so it can serve the community, society, and the world.
ATUNI
Philosophy
Our educational philosophy is to constantly pursue greater knowledge and understanding, by maintaining an open and enquiring mind:
"To question all things; - never to turn away from any difficulty; to accept no doctrine either from ourselves or from other people without a rigid scrutiny by negative criticism; letting no fallacy, no incoherence, or confusion of thought step by unperceived; ... these are the lessons we learn from the ancient dialecticians."
but the greatest Knowledge can be obtained from the Bible.
